Southwest Innovation Cluster (SWIC)

Formed in 2010, the Southwest Innovation Cluster (SWIC) is a resource networking and business management entity that focuses on autonomous unmanned systems related to providers and suppliers of Command , Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) technologies, alternative power and propulsion.  It also provides high performance computing access to small and medium-sized businesses via the XSEDE network of supercomputers, and resource support for cyber-security, augmented nd virtual reality services and the application of green technology solutions.

 

SWIC currently has over fifty member-companies and promotes the concept of collaborative competitiveness as the SWIC Advantage.  It fosters collaboration for innovation and regional economic development through public-private partnerships and offers technical assistance, mentorships, internships, and Education, Outreach and Training services for professional development and special projects.

 

SWIC is hosted by National University’s Office of Community Research.  It has a working relationship with corporations, government agencies and such organizations as the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, the Scripps Institute, and XSEDE, the national network of supercomputers. SWIC also collaborates with such institutions as North Dakota State University, Mississippi State University, the University of California, Sn Diego, and Sn Diego State all supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Small Business Administration.
